The Old Man and the Sea (1/99)
by Ernest Hemingway

-- A story of an old man named Santiago who is a fisherman in search of the biggest marlin in the Caribbean.  After countless days of no luck, he finally hooks the fish.  He fights the fish for three days, struggling at all times to catch it, and Santiago's struggle is an allusion to Man's struggle with nature, with fate, with loneliness and the passage of time.  Not the best of Hemingway but still a good book to read.
